The fairytale Pinezhye was presented at the RUSSIA EXPO

The Pinezhsky district of the Arkhangelsk region was presented to the guests of the RUSSIA EXPO at VDNH in Moscow in a theatrical format.

Pinezhye is an unusual and mysterious land that still surprises with its unique fairy tales, lore and legends.

"Fairytale Pinezhye is a preserved vernacular speech, the most marvelous northern folklore, passed from mouth to mouth: incantations, lullabies, funny poems, wedding rituals. All of this we try to preserve and disseminate," said Victoria Korovina, Deputy Head of the Pinezhsky District Administration for Social Policy.

Together with Leonid Zhitov, Head of the Department for Culture and Tourism of the District Administration, she presented the main attractions of the territory. The presentation was accompanied by reading fairy tales, Pinezhye riddles, songs and round dances.

The participants talked about the great people of Pinezhye - John of Kronstadt, Artemy Verkolsky, the famous storyteller Maria Krivopolenova, writer Fyodor Abramov.

Another participant of the performance was a traditional Pinega costume: Pinezhans were dressed in authentic sarafans of the XIX century.

Of course, they did not forget to tell about the barns, without which no Pinezhye village can be imagined, and demonstrated the assembly of a miniature of this structure at the stand of the Arkhangelsk region. Both children and adults assembled the construction with interest. Elena Vdovina, a folklore specialist of the Karpogorsky district House of Folk Art, conducted masterclasses on creating a barn doll and making a wooden pendant with elements of Mezen painting.

There were a lot of people wishing to get acquainted with the fabulous Pinega region and take part in the masterclasses. As Victoria Korovina notes, even those who once lived in the area and moved to Moscow came to the exposition.

It should be reminded that the International RUSSIA EXPO opened on November 4 by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is devoted to the demonstration of the most important achievements of the country in different sectors of the economy, all regions of Russia, including the Arkhangelsk region, are presenting their expositions.
