Registration opens for the awards ceremony honouring the best science fiction writers in the country at the National Centre RUSSIA
Registration has opened for the awards ceremony of the inaugural Russian Science Fiction Literary Award, established by the National Centre RUSSIA together with the Union of Writers of Russia. The event will take place on 7 October and will become one of the central highlights of the II International Symposium "Inventing the Future", dedicated to the interaction of science, technology, and science fiction.
The new award has been launched in the year marking the centenary of the birth of the great science fiction writer Arkady Strugatsky and continues the work of shaping the future and promoting science fiction, which began within the framework of the International Symposium "Inventing the Future". The award will serve as an important instrument to support authors, translators, illustrators, and publishers who develop the traditions of the genre and create visions of the future. It will annually recognise Russia’s best science fiction writers and help new authors make their mark.
The Board of Trustees and the expert commission of the award include leading figures of science and culture, literary critics, translators, artists, and representatives of the academic community. The jury is chaired by the science fiction writer Sergei Lukyanenko, a board member of the Union of Writers of Russia.
The competition features works published in 2025. Awards will be presented in four categories: "Work of Fiction", "Visual Image" (comics, illustrations), "Translation", and "Publishing Project" (books and audiobooks). The total prize fund amounts to 4 million rubles.
