World-class Arctic Star campus was presented at the RUSSIA EXPO
The campus is being created in the Arkhangelsk region within the framework of the national project "Science and Universities" initiated by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
Roman Boldyrev, Professor of the Department of General History of the Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University, spoke about the project at the stand of the Arkhangelsk region.
The campus will have several dormitory buildings for at least 2750 beds, a hotel for 700 beds, a sports and recreation center with a swimming pool and a social and business zone with scientific spaces, laboratories and catering. Construction will begin in 2024 and is planned to be completed by 2027.
According to the scientist, the main problems that the North has always faced are the lack of personnel and technology. The campus, equipped with the latest technology, with new laboratory facilities, working in conjunction with business and the state, will help to develop breakthrough projects and attract additional funding for science.
It should be reminded that Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to create a network of 25 modern world-class campuses in the regions by 2030. Such campuses will also appear in Tomsk, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Ufa, Samara, Perm, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Ivanovo, Tyumen, Khabarovsk, Veliky Novgorod and on the Sirius federal territory.
