Arctic Floating University to be presented to the RUSSIA EXPO visitors

The sectoral Science Day will be held at the International RUSSIA EXPO on February 17. Visitors will be presented the achievements of leading universities of the Far East and the Arctic, as well as new projects of universities.
Alexander Saburov, Director of the Arctic Center for Strategic Research at NArFU, will talk about the Arctic Floating University project, Arctic research and the experience of scientists working in high latitudes.
Visitors will be offered to take part in the quiz "Feel Like a Polar Explorer", make a virtual immersion in the Arctic with the help of VR-glasses and watch a mini-movie about the Franz Josef Land archipelago.
According to Yuri Prokhorov, Director of the Department of Human Resources Development of the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, scientific research in the Arctic is of great significance, the region is strategically important for the Russian economy. 14% of the world's nickel, 11% of cobalt, 15% of platinum, 41% of palladium, over 10% of the world's reserves of titanium, phosphates and rare earth metals are mined here.
"The Arctic Floating University plays an ever-growing role in the region's research. Specialists study the region's fauna, analyze climate change and anthropogenic load on Arctic ecosystems, and conduct field studies of the Arctic's historical and cultural heritage. The Far East and Arctic Development Corporation actively cooperates with the Northern (Arctic) Federal University as the base university of the Arctic Floating University project in a number of areas," said Yuri Prokhorov.
The event is organized by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (FEDC).
