Sergei Shoigu: "The Motherland is in each of us"
The
Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, was
a guest of honour at the themed Youth Day of International Week "Peoples
of Russia", held on 7 November at the National Centre RUSSIA. He spoke
with graduates of the first season of the Young Journalists School at the
National Centre RUSSIA and answered the central question of the All-Russian
project "What Does the Motherland Begin With?", put to him by one of
the young journalists, Artyom Gordeychik.
"The Motherland is a vast concept that encompasses a great deal. For me,
the Motherland is my parents and the history of my country. The Motherland is
the heroic deeds of the Heroes of the special military operation and the heroic
deeds of our ancestors. The Motherland is Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The Motherland is the taiga, Lake Baikal, Kamchatka and every corner of our
vast country. The Motherland is what we carry within us," said Sergei
Shoigu.
"What Does the Motherland Begin With?" is an original project of the
National Centre RUSSIA, run during the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia
with support from the Government of the Russian Federation. The project began
with a survey in which thousands of people from different regions of Russia and
from many other countries have already answered a single question — what the
Motherland begins with for them personally.
Anyone can share where their love for the Motherland comes from as part of the
project "What Does the Motherland Begin With?" by posting a comment
or a video on russia.ru.

continue to stay in touch, work on joint initiatives, share their experience
and report on actual events at the centre. The remote stage of selection for
the school's second season concluded in November. Applications came from 70
federal subjects of the Russian Federation, representing all eight federal
districts, including the historical territories.
