Schoolchildren proposed ideas for sustainable development of Russian cities

School teams developed and defended projects aimed at sustainable urban development within the framework of the business game "Your City", VEB.RF reports.

The game, organized by VEB.RF and the National Research University Higher School of Economics within the framework of the new season of the "City to Upgrade" project, was held in the VEB.RF pavilion at the International RUSSIA EXPO.

Within the framework of the game, the kids from the Movement of the First developed projects on the thematic tracks of environmental well-being, development of social interaction and improving the quality of urban management. The projects were evaluated based on the complexity of the approach to solving the problem of urban development, consideration of ESG-principles, the quality of problem elaboration, and the involvement of residents in its solution.

"Modern youth has its own demands to the level of quality of life in the city, its understanding of what should be a comfortable urban environment. The new season of "City to Upgrade" is dedicated to the projects proposed by schoolchildren. They analyze life in the city on the basis of the VEB.RF Index and propose their projects. Thus, we can hear the requests of the younger generation and take into account their vision in making our investment decisions," the Chief Managing Director of VEB.RF Andrei Samokhin is quoted in the report.

The essence of the project "City to Upgrade", organized by VEB.RF, is to offer real solutions to improve the quality of life in cities based on the analysis of the VEB.RF Quality of Life Index.

The second season of the project started in December. Its audience is schoolchildren and college students. Works are accepted on the project website until March 20, 2024. The results will be summarized in April in the VEB.RF pavilion at the RUSSIA EXPO.
