Tiger, musk deer, leopard: what the exposition "Unique Fauna" at the National Centre RUSSIA in Primorye will display
The exposition "Unique Fauna" at the branch of the National Centre RUSSIA in the Primorye region opens up the world of the Primorye taiga to visitors. Anyone who comes to the centre can see and learn about the region’s unique inhabitants.
"Primorye can rightly be called a land of reserves, because it has six nature reserves, four national parks and specially protected natural areas. We always remind guests that we have the only marine biosphere reserve in Russia. In addition to being the most reserved, our region is also the most feline: four rare wild cats live here. The rarest of them is the Far Eastern leopard — there are only 136 species. Next comes the Amur tiger, the symbol of our branch. You can learn about our rare wild cats and see them in their natural habitat at this exposition," said Daria Guseva, Head of the Excursion Division of the National Centre RUSSIA in Primorye.
The regional Red Book includes about 250 species of animals. The immersive exposition allows visitors to step into the heart of the local taiga, where sounds enhance the sense of immersion. Visitors walk along a forest path and encounter rare representatives of the fauna.
Digital technologies recreate the features and habits of endangered species, their interaction with the ecosystem and their typical living conditions. Here, the taiga briefly reveals its hidden secrets.
An Amur tiger — the majestic predator and symbol of the region — comes out to meet the guests. Nearby roams the rare Far Eastern leopard — a creature that only a few ever manage to see in the wild. The musk deer, a small deer with sharp fangs, also appears here. A little further on, visitors will find the sika deer, also called the "flower deer".
The exposition was created to remind us that the Primorye taiga is a living treasure trove, where every creature matters. Modern technologies here do not distract from nature, but help visitors to feel its presence.
Excursions are open to all free of charge. To join, visitors need to register on the website of the National Centre RUSSIA in the Primorye region and choose a convenient date and time. Tours are held daily, except on Mondays, from 10:00 to 20:00. Groups are limited to 15 people, and the programme lasts 90 minutes. Subject to availability, visitors may also join without prior registration.
