Volunteers of the project "Shaping a Comfortable Urban Environment" awarded at the National Centre RUSSIA branch in Primorye
On 19 September, volunteers and partners of the federal project "Shaping a Comfortable Urban Environment", implemented within the framework of the national programme "Infrastructure for Life", were honoured at the branch of the National Centre RUSSIA in the Primorye region.
The main objective of the project is to create a new look for towns and settlements throughout the Russian Federation. A set of measures is aimed at improving the quality of the urban environment and ensuring integrated development of settlements. As a result, public spaces, parks, embankments and squares are being landscaped.
Volunteers help organise voting, carry out educational activities, participate in public monitoring of the works, and perform many other important tasks.
The Head of the Youth Affairs Department of the Vladivostok city administration, Yekaterina Ishchuk, thanked the volunteers and emphasised their key role in the successful implementation of programmes important for the city.
"Despite the difficulties and sleepless hours, you accomplished a great team effort on this important project," she said.
Representatives of 16 organisations and eight volunteers who assisted the project were awarded. The event recognised the merits of those who, through their work and initiative, make an invaluable contribution to the improvement and development of Vladivostok’s urban spaces.
This year, in one and a half months of voting, more than 81,000 votes were collected, with over 500 organisations taking part and nearly 1,300 volunteers helping. As a result, the winners were the alley on Kirova Street, the landscape park zone of the Far Eastern Federal University, and 3 Ivanovskaya Street. Thanks to last year’s voting, three public spaces in the city have already been improved.
After the event, the participants enjoyed a pleasant surprise — a tour of the National Centre RUSSIA branch in Primorye. Guests saw the expositions and learnt a lot of interesting things about the development of the region.
The tours are free of charge and open to everyone. To attend, one needs to register on the website of the National Centre RUSSIA in the Primorye region and select a convenient date and time. Tours are held daily, except Monday, from 10:00 to 20:00. Groups are formed of up to 15 people, and the programme lasts 90 minutes. Joining without prior registration is possible if there are free places in the group.
