Pavel Zhikharev, the chief specialist in strategic projects and development at the industrial-metallurgical complex management company, spoke to the pavilion visitors.

The speaker emphasized that the role of metallurgy, particularly black metallurgy, cannot be overstated. Metal is needed everywhere; life without it is impossible. This includes construction, mechanical engineering, transport and energy sectors.

During the lecture, visitors learned that China is the world leader in this type of production. In 2023, Russia ranked fifth globally with a result of about 2 billion tons.

"Black metallurgy is a crucial sector of our country's economy. It is one of the defining industries for any industrially developed state," said Pavel Zhikharev, reminding everyone that June 29 is the Day of the Rationalizer and Inventor, and black metallurgy is a field where inventiveness plays a vital role. "It can be confidently said that it is one of the engines of scientific and technological progress," Zhikharev emphasized.

The lecturer explained how cast iron production developed in our country, highlighting the significant role of scientific and technical innovations, particularly the contribution of academician Kapitsa in producing affordable, economically viable oxygen, which led to a sharp increase in metal smelting.
