Vladimir Mashkov tells Vladimir Putin about the exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA dedicated to the Union of Theatre Workers
On 5 August, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, met with the Chairman of the Union of Theatre Workers, People's Artist of Russia, actor and director Vladimir Mashkov. They discussed the activities of the Union of Theatre Workers and the celebration of the organisation's 150th anniversary. During the meeting, Vladimir Mashkov also informed the head of state about the opening of the "Legacy. Theatre. The Greats" exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA, dedicated to the history and outstanding figures of Russian theatrical art.
"We have now opened the 'Legacy. Theatre. The Greats' exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA. More than 100 companies were involved in preparing it, and it features 600 exhibits. Above all, we show the youngest generation how life behind the scenes of a theatre works. There are 17 themed, fully interactive areas where young people can try their hand at making props, set design and lighting design. You know, it has received a deeply emotional response from visitors. Stanislavski once put it very precisely for young people: 'To take up any pursuit, you need to become fascinated by it, feel it and want it.' And if that fascination begins here, at this very moment, then perhaps young people will start choosing professions for themselves, or simply come to love theatre — it is impossible to exist without theatre," Vladimir Mashkov said.
The large-scale "Legacy. Theatre. The Greats" exposition opened at the National Centre RUSSIA on 28 July under the motto "A Union of Happy People". Its exhibits include authentic theatre sets, stage machinery, lighting and sound equipment, sketches of stage compositions, costumes, masks, props, stage properties and theatre puppets. Visitors will see the legendary compere Eduard Aplombov from the production "An Extraordinary Concert", the miniature inhabitants of the Lilikan Kingdom, costumes based on designs by Nadezhda Lamanova and Vyacheslav Zaitsev, as well as rare 18th-century books, handwritten scripts, posters, photographs, letters, and archival audio and video materials telling the story of Russian theatre.
The exposition is open until 25 September inclusive. Admission is free. Registration on the russia.ru website is required for a guided tour.
The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives.
A new themed area dedicated to theatre posters has been added to the "Legacy. Theatre. The Greats" exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA.
The Department Store space is presenting "Commotion at the Puppet Theatre", an original collection by Russian artist and designer Liza Anisimova.
Andrei Artizov, answered the central question of the National Centre RUSSIA's All-Russian project "What Does the Motherland Begin With?".
