Republic of Tuva
The Republic of Tuva is a subject of the Russian Federation, part of the Siberian Federal District. Its administrative center is the city of Kyzyl. The names Tuva and Tyva are equivalent.
The region borders on the Republic of Altai and the Republic of Khakassia in the west, the Krasnoyarsk region in the north, the Irkutsk region and the Republic of Buryatia of Russia in the northeast, and Mongolia in the south.

The Republic joined the RSFSR on October 14, 1944 as Tuva Autonomous Region, since 1961 it was Tuva Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, on May 24, 1991 it was transformed into a republic.
The republic is located in the upper reaches of the Yenisei River. Most of the territory of Tuva is occupied by mountains. The lands of the region are rich in fossils, therefore the most developed is the extractive industry: mining of coal, non-ferrous and rare-earth metals. The main branches of manufacturing industry are food, forestry, light industry and production of construction materials.
In agriculture, livestock breeding is the leading and traditional branch. The most advanced are meat and dairy livestock breeding, sheep breeding, horse breeding, and in the eastern and southern regions of the republic reindeer and camels are bred.
