Future in flowers. The Republic of Khakassia
The
future... Everyone sees it differently. For Khakassia, the future is
unthinkable without preserving her unique landscape and culture, without
transferring experience and traditions from the older generation to the
younger. This is why her rather small exhibition presents both modern design
and traditional for Khakassia elements and plants.
The main
object of the exhibition is the mirror solar sign. It is the oldest symbol of
Khakassia, known for more than 3,500 years. It is a part of the coat of arms and
of republic's flag. The solar sign was discovered on stone sculptures which so
far are found only in the region. It symbolizes respect to generations of
people who lived on the land of Khakassia, and represents a cycle of life. In
the composition, it symbolically stands for the intersection of time and space,
so in fact, it is a kind of portal that takes a visitor to the future. The
reflected rays in the mirror circle highlight the fact that Khakassia is a
sunny region. The number of sunny days there per year is 311!
The Asian
globeflower is considered to be the floral symbol of the region. But in
Khakassia people customary call it ‘zharok’. These bright orange flowers
flicker in the thick green grass like hot coals. The smooth lines of the
globeflower’s plantation represent meadows of the republic. The meadow seems to
flow from one space to another, being a connecting link between the past, the present,
and the future. The unique nature and national flavor of Khakassia will not
leave the exhibition guests indifferent, and they will definitely want to visit
the sunny region.
Along with the RUSSIA EXPO, the flower festival is also coming to an end.
