Breathe with nature. Magadan Region
The Magadan region is a land of fantastically beautiful nature. The north here combines
snowy mountains, forested valleys, pure rivers and the sea with a picturesque
coastline and mysterious islands. The variety of natural landscapes is amazing.
Ecotourism is actively occupying its position in the Magadan region.
The
exhibition is made of trees and shrubs (Siberian juniper, Siberian dwarf pine,
Siberian larch), as well as perennial and annual plants (Siberian iris,
alyssum, Tagetes erecta, saxifrage) that grow in the Magadan region.
The
Siberian dwarf pine lives in the harshest places and produces healthy nuts. It
is one of the leaders among pine trees in terms of the amount of phytoncides.
Its local name is stlanik, and this plant is a main character of V. Shalamov's
story "Stlanik", where it is described as the only evergreen tree in
the Magadan region — the tree of hope.
