Bright Buryat wedding ritual at the RUSSIA EXPO
A traditional Buryat wedding with a colorful rite "Khunzhelei Nair" ("Blanket Feast") was held at the International RUSSIA EXPO. The marriage was concluded by Dmitry Baranov and Nadezhda Parkhonova, natives of the Bauntovsky district of the Republic of Buryatia, who have known each other since childhood.
Dmitry works as an investigator for the main department of the Investigative Committee for Moscow and the Moscow region, while Nadezhda is a resident of the Russian Medical Academy and an STD and skin specialist at a Moscow clinic.
"We are very happy that our wedding took place right here at the RUSSIA EXPO. It is a great honor for us, we express our deep gratitude to the organizers", — said Dmitry.
For the ceremony, the groom’s side provided dressed sheepskins and the bride’s side sewed the blanket. It is considered the most important element in the dowry of the future mother of the family.
Ekaterina Kochetova, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Buryatia, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Buryatia, presented the newlyweds with a marriage certificate and a certificate for one hectare of land in Buryatia.
